My first Ringcon, my first Charity After last year, when the charity was a spontaneous action, we wanted to get more professional this time. A few months before RingCon we started working together: 3 Kerstin with her idea about the charity 3 Ina with her knowledge of creating a website 3 Lydia with her idea about a special cook book Therefore our mailing programmes faced a real challenge. Because now the ideas, successes, routs, new attempts and finally results had to be interchanged, discussed and joined: 3 Ina created a wonderful website for us and for you, donated 2 great autographs and should assist the auctioneer. She got the promise from Mark Ferguson to do the auction for us. To our great delight, Craig Parker joined him later. 3 I took care of the cook book. With patient promotion I got more and more intercessors. My endless attempts to get donations for our charity were only crowned with little success. But I got new pleasure when creating the flyers and begging letters. 3 Kerstin had to make the decisions as she was the organizer. She got more positive response on our begging letters; so at the final spurt more and more wonderful items came on our auction list. She designed the billboards and would be responsible for money matters. Then finally the day had come: on thursday evening I got to know Ina and Kerstin face-to-face. We had a look at our booth and took possession of it. Of course not without having a drink together in the bar. Right there there were only 2 unoccupied seats, one chair was taken and one free seat again: "Excuse
me, are you by yourself?" "Yes,
I am." While I asked him, if he could move on to the next seat, the penny dropped in how my question could be interpreted, too. <blushing> But he did move to the next bar stool and had a nice talk with Kerstin for the next half hour. <winking> In the course of the evening Ina introduced us to Marc. B. Lee who asked " who are you ??" with the words: |
