The most important question is with no doubt - who will get the money collected at RingCon ?

These are the foundations we support

Children are our future - not only for Sam and Rosie Gamgee- and that´s why we always choose foundations caring for children in need....

After a long discussion it was decided that children´s hospice Balthasar should get part of the 2007 profits for their very special pain remedy project:

balthasar

As we all know it´s often difficult to find the source of pain in children as they usually point out their stomach aches- although it doesn´t really....

It´s even more complicated to locate the source if the child is handicapped or very ill.....

This project tries to help minize the pain terminally ill children have to suffer from.

Another part of the profits will go to our foster child Canias and we hope we can help him find his way in life and learn enough to find a good job later.

As for the foreign project we chose the foundation Kinderherzen retten, which gives heart-surgery to poor kids with fatal heart diseases, both in their own country or by flying them to Germany for surgery.

In 2006 - for the first time- one of foundations was situated in Fulda itself:

Only about 2 kms from Fulda the children- and youthhome St. Elisabeth houses 7 male kids aged 3 - 18 Jahren.
The boys came to live here for different reasons: all of them couldn´t stay with their own families any longer, for different reasons and found here a new home.

After consideration with their group leader we didn´t give them any money but an honest invitation to RingCon itself:

Sponsored by Dirk/FedCon the whole group enjoyed a wonderful saturday at RingCon enjoying a few extras as well!

The charity also gave them a dinner voucher to enjoy an evening following RingCon to reminisce their RingCon adventure.

They all enjoyed RingCon as much as we do every year.....

We also supported children´s hospice Löwenherz in 2006.

Every year about 150 families with terminally ill children from northern Gemany come here. The house is situated at the outskirts of Syke (near Bremen) on 5000 m2 grounds near to a small forest and surrounded by fields and meadows. There are 8 places and 8 rooms for the parents.

As a permanent beneficiary we chose (via worldvision ) to sponsor a young boy from Zimbabwe :

His name is Canias, he is 9 years old and lives with his parents, three sisters and one brother in Chipinge South. At home he has to look after the families animals and he also loves ball games.

Canias Mlambo

We will write to him regularly and as soon as we get letters from him we will let you know so all of you can stay in touch with his life as well!

In 2005 we gave 70 % of the proceeds to the german Kinderhilfe 2000 :

They supported childrens hospice Balthasar with our money.

Kinderhilfe 2000 supports 48 different associations in Germany and around the world:

o Fights against the abuse of children
o Supports projects fighting against poverty in Germany
o Funds extraordinary play schools and public utility institutions
o Attends children and their parents in their final months of life
o Finances expensive and complicated medical operations and medical aids
o Fosters children's hospitals in war zones

The other 30 % went to the starship-hospital in Auckland - New Zealand :

Starship-hospital is the biggest children's hospital in New Zealand treating children from all over the country and the South Pacific with the most difficult treatments ( like transplants, heart operations, cancer treatments).

"Starship is exclusively for children and their health needs. It provides a wide range of complex medical, surgical and mental health services for children throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Starship's prime focus is on delivering family-centred care in a child friendly environment."

The Starship-Foundation tries to make live for the children in hospital as comfortable as possible and to ensure the best possible medical treatment.

Aside Craig Parker and Mark Ferguson several other actors from New Zealand like Lucy Lawless ( known as Xena ) work actively for starship.

In 2004 we supported aside the starship foundation the german Off-Road-kids foundation.
